You will need to provide more information if you want to get any help.

The product includes both generic settings and presets for specific characters, optimised for their materials - I think you are using the preset for Darius 8 without owning the Darius 8 characters. Theer is a dedicated thread here https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/243716/released-altern8-skin-shader-system-for-genesis-8-commercial

yes, it looks like you don't own darius 8 but the scrip has a shader wfor dark skin wihtou using the maps of darious 8, the icon should sit right next to the one for darius in the smart content.

When I started using this I was missing several of the g8 character, still worked fine

  • Thanks. I suppose when the product is on sale on daz3d, the seller would be interested that it works?
If you google, you will see somone else pointing out same problem some time ago

The product does work - it's a mix of setti sg that can be aplied to any character and one or more pre-rolled sets for certain named characters; their not working if you don't have the named character is the expected behaviour, not a product problem.

  • that makes sence.
It takes time to know your way around daz studio. It is confucing. Mostly my renders look crap, but the other day I found a free character somewhere, I don't recall where. I put this character in a kitchen, also optained for free, so the ligting came with the kitchen. That led to a render that is indistingisable from a real photo, unless you know what to look for I suppose.
I miss some figures in a more modest pricerange that look good in render.
And also I miss a search option, that makes it possible to search character by specifications, like age, type of person, character in real life .. etc.
Where to find answers to that kind of questions?

  • Categorisation can help, but sadly it isn't usually aplied with that degree of granularity. However, you can do your own categorisation by right-click on a file or folder so, if you get in the habit of categorising content as you add it, you could build your own system. If you do do that, make sure you are backing up the database (it should be included if you are backing up your system profile) and periodically export the user data (Content Library pane option menu>Content DB Maintenance - it places the files in the /Runtime/Support folder of the first Daz Studio content directory on your system, from where you can back them up too).

When searching for content catagorized, I ment in the shop. There is so much content, like characters, so it is wierd that you can not search it systematically ... or can you?
