Upgraded to newest version and content now out of order

Hello. Just upgraded to current release of DS from an older version of 4.6 , and when I go to Content Library, the material is no longer in alphabetical order. I've done a lot of googling on this and searching in the forums, but things I've found don't help. How do you tell DS to display, say your scenes, in alphabetical order?

Thanks,

Treebeard

Any chance exiting and restarting works? I say that only because I occasionally have something in my content library go out of alphabetical order (I think category names) but then later I notice it is back in order without having intentionally made any fixes.

No Sean, did not make a difference. Thanks.

Are your items listed in order if you browse to the folder with Windows Explorer (or the Mac equivalent)?

Yes. I'm on a Windows PC running XP Pro. When browsing to a folder using explorer, all material is in alphabetical order as I sort on Filename.

So just to be clear, two-three days ago, running a slightly older version of DS 4.6, when I viewed my Content Library, viewing folders as TREE, regardless of where I traversed to all content was in alphabetical order. This has been the case since migrating to DS 4 years ago and working fine updating as I went.

Then after doing nothing more than updating to current/newest version of DS 4.6, content is in what I can only call random order. Not alphabetical, not based on date...

    Thanks,

Have have this happen every once and a while...what fixes it for me is:

    1. Close Daz
    2. Stop the Content Management Service
    3. Restart the Content Management Service
    4. Re-open Daz

The content CATEGORIES for me are never in order (Camera, Figures, Props, etc.); however, the content itself typically will display alphabetically after I do the above...this has happened since late 4.5...

I have heard of this before, and I think it mostly happens with XP for some reason.

Have you tried changing to another layout in Window > Workspace > Select Layout. From memory, I think that sorted it for some people before.

Thanks. I'll try both of those this weekend and post the results.

4.6.1 alphabetized my content with some special characters in the front of the name at the top
4.6.2 moved them to the bottom of the content list.

so "!folder" would be a the top "_folder" would also be at the top then it turned to "_folder" at the top "!folder" at the bottom

Daz has done this before back in one of the 4.5 incarnations. Possibly related?

I had that happen to me. I just select the main folder and tell it to Refresh and they get sorted properly.

Only one that won't sort properly is the Poser Format.

    I'm on Windows 7 Pro

Have tried all the above suggestions and no difference.

    Anybody else have an idea?

Richard, what does DS use/read to base the order on? I can't believe there isn't a way to say how you want the information sorted. What an omission.

Hmmm. I don't see CMS running.

So I stopped DS. Then used the manage function by right clicking on My Computer, selected Services, and CMS was not started. It is configured to start automatically. Since I rebooted, shouldn't it be on?

So I started it. Brought up DS. Now stuff in the DS Formats folder is in order, but not the Poser Formats. That stuff is still in random order (which of course is most of my content)

    Argh.

Any recommendations so that my Poser content is in order?
