Is there a way to make an object that is transparent and so is everything behind it?
Is there a way to add shape that will render as transparent no matter what is behind it? Basically boring a hole of rendered transparent background from wherever it is. Example being, if there is a window with stuff behind it, but I want to render the window and wall and everything on the camera's side of the window, but have everything on the other side of the window be transparent. Ordinarily I would just delete the stuff on the other side of the window, but some sets, and some props are connected to the wall or ground or something, and delete them and you delete stuff you don't want deleted. Seems to me the easiest way would be to add a flat plane that makes everything behind it appear transparent, then just put it on the other side of the window, whatever is behind this thing will be rendered as transparent checkers so I can add whatever I want in Photoshop.
Hard to explain, but hopefully I am making sense. Anyone have any ideas?

Iray section plane seems to be what you need, it basically "cuts out" everything behind it
The Section Plane removes everything behind the plane's position, it isn't limited to the area of the plane. You could try applying Create Iray Advanced Node Properties, from Scripts/Utilities, to thje object then in the Parameters pane turn on the Enable Iray Matte property.
Ace! I'll give it a whirl friends!
Hmmm, is there a trick to using them? I can add a section plane in, but it seems to just be invisible in the render and opaque in the render.
