    Fun fact: Ken "Doc Mojo" Musgrave worked with Mandelbrot to produce the 3D landscape images that appeared in Mandelbrot's "The Fractal Geometry of Nature", some of the very first if not the very first fractal 3D landscapes. Eric Wenger's fractal toolkit that formed the basis of the first version of Bryce was an extension of Ken's work. If I remember correctly, Ken also worked with or at DAZ 3D to help develop one of the later versions of Bryce (maybe Bryce 6?). So, basically, DAZ3D and Mandelbrot are about two degrees of separation apart.

    I've got a copy of version 1.0 of "MojoWorld" or whatever it was called.  Still runs on Win10 but not currently installed on this computer anymore.  I used it to generate mountain backdrops for some of my earliest images.  I believe the setup was composed and rendered in Carrara2.  Ancient ancient stuff.

    'Nother fun fact:  I believe Doc Mojo or his software concepts was used in the creation of the scenes of the Genesis planet in that early Star Trek movie.cool

    Non-complaint:  The version 1.0 of MojoWorld was a delight to own.  Primarily because it had a magnificent manual.  Packaged and done the way software should be done.  Complete with theory, examples, suggestions, professionally written, thick high quality glossy pages, and a sturdy pocket for the CD.

    I'm not sure Ken Musgrave worked at Daz but Eric Wenger did for a short time. We got IBL with Bryce 6.0 in 2006 using the Monte Carlo method which needs a diffuse or specular convolved (with a low Phong exponent) HDRI for the light (because of the noise). Eric Wenger remade IBL for Bryce 6.1 around 2007 and used the Median-cut method which can work with high resolution HDRIs but creates many shadows. But Eric Wenger implemented it with up to 4096 lights and IBL shadows can also be rendered with soft shadows.
