GPU suggestions

Hey there, not sure if this is the place to ask, but it seemed to be the most relavent space.

I currently have an Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti and for all I know it works reasonably, but I've seen a lot of folks suggesting a 1070/1080 and I can't afford the $500 to drop on it at the moment.

My questions are: is there a significant difference in render speed/quality between those cards, and can anyone recommend something in the $200-$300 range for an amateur that would outperform the 1050?

Thanks for your time and knowledge!

Product Suggestions is more for suggesting content you'd like to see made, or asking if there is already content or a aprticular ttype (and also for what hair/character/outfit is this questions about promo art). Moved this to Daz Studio Discussion

Any 10x0 card is going to be pre-RTX - as a result it will need to get extra code sent across to emulate the features built in to RTX cards, which will reduce available memory. If yiou can find one, and if your system supports it, a lower-end 20x0 card, ideally with 8GB, might be your best bet. I believe there's a 2060 Super which might just fit your budget.

  • And then there's the time factor. If you can hold off for a year, everything goes down in price. I don't think I ever buy new when I'm building or upgrading a PC.

I've always been a fan of slightly older tech for Daz myself.  There's typically a huge cost savings, and not much of a performance drop off.

  • Thank you all for your responses! I'll be grabbing that 2060 super pretty soon.
