  • Whata re your system specs? What security software are you using? Do you get an error message? Have you checked

    %AppData%/daz 3d/studio4/log.txt

(or the Mac equivalent - I think in the Application Support folder) just after the crash? Does other content load? Does chnaging the Viewport drawstyle (the sphere icon in the top-right corner, to the left of the camera/view picker button) help?

It crashes on a regular basis for me.  It would be going fine for a few scenes, and then all of the sudden it crashes, usually when I'm trying to pan the camera.  The next time it does it I'll post the log file.

  • It also crashes a lot more than usual with me. I am running the beta. Looking at the log that Richard mentions above it seems it is loading libneuray.dll from the non-beta version which I never wanted to install, but which the install manager seems to have snuck in. I uninstalled it, but the install manager is admant that I want it back... How do I turn this off?

For completeness the answer to Richard's questions:

    Whata re your system specs?

    i9-9900K and RTX 2080

What security software are you using?

    Kaspersky

Do you get an error message?

No, the process just crashes and all windows disappear.

libneuray.dll  is part of Iray, which is installed as part of DS. What is it that you are trying to keep uninstalled?

Ok.  I was working a few scenes.  Did a dforce simulation.  Saved a bunch of times. Tweaked poses a bunch of times.  Saved the final scene and closed. Attached is the error log that Daz spit out.  Sometimes it happens when I close out.  Sometimes it happens when I pan the camera,

The log is filled with connection related errors, why don't you use DS in offline-mode until DAZ gets rid of the server problems - There is no point in kicking a dead horse.

Is that the issue?  Thanks!  I'll try that.

I am trying not to install the released version and only to use the beta.

Sorry the log file was a red herring. Also a new update just arrived so I will see if the crashing persists.

  • My scene started crashing Daz stduio when I edit the Muelsfell Multilayer shader. Any ideas?

The log looks as if mom is trying to do a million things at the same time the night before christmas...

Start by going into Offline-mode, and if you are using Iray preview, try "Texture Shaded" instead - Just to calm things down and let mom concentrate on one thing at a time.

  • As a mom the day before Thanksgiving.... I ressemble that remark. :-)

  • I'm having real problems with it crashing,it doesnt even show the little fatal error notice, it just dissapears.

I just lost 3 hours work! I save before I render, but now its just dropping for no reason. I have been sending in my logs and complaints...just sent the 9th one. Is there any information when this will be resolved.I am trying to work and I cant!

Any input would be appreciated :)

Are you working online or off? Whata r your system specs, and what is your GPU driver version? What Darwstyle are you using in the Viewport?

  • HI Richard, thanks for answering. I read through some of the suggestions and uninstalled it. Reinstalled it offline (I kept a copy of 4.5 ) and have remained that way. I'm now working in filament in the viewport, and it's coping well. It hasn't crashed once since I did this.

    my specs are

    i9 9900cpu,32 gb memory,NVIDIA RTX2080 Ti

I really appreciate you answering and offering to assist, this has been hell! I will stay off line and not open anything or log in to Daz on my desktop (thankfully I can use my tablet to check news). Is this a server problem? I checked my logs and it seems to be unable to find things that I'm not using or don't have open in the scene!

This means I won't be purchasing or downloading from them until it's all fixed.

    thanks again

  • Logging in with your browser of Central/Install manager should be no problem - as far as I know - but theer do seem to be some oddities following the store software change that may throw errors if DS itself is allowed to connect (from the Connect menu, but it may be worth checking the update checks and the improvement programme (if you opted in to that) just in case they are an issue. I have update checks and, I think, the improvement programme on and haven't had major crashes - but with all the froum activity recently I also haven't been doing that much with DS.

  • I have been getting this crash for several weeks now. Even with the ethernet cable out, work offline checked and all of that. Some things render ok but put a light emitting texture in there or ask it to render thigs with detail in the backgound and theres a little click and black screen, tower power button is still on, have to swith the power on the back. Often when it comes back my mouse doesn't detect, and I've found some of the C++ files have been corrupted. Poser works, Doom Eternal works, Kombuster works. Very bummed this hasn't been sorted.

That sounds like a hardware issue, most likely something getting too hot.

Had it at a repair shop, not the problem. Can run Meshroom fine and that puts an insane load on things. Ran burn cycles all night long with Kombuster.

Has to be something they've changed since November.

Nevertheless, an application error won't have such dramatic effects. Even a driver issue wouldn't usually go that far.

  • I'm getting crashes while rendering animations. I had a 1080 Ti and didn't use it to try animations with 4.14.08. I did do animations on previous versions with the 1080 Ti and that was ok. But this weekend I got an RTX 3090 and tried some animations and I get this message. I get it when trying to render as an .avi or if I render as still images. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, but that didn't work.

    I'm using a Ryzen 3900x with Windows 10 (updated), 64 GB pc3600 RAM, RTX 3090 with a couple 2 TB m.2 SSD's.

I got the same crash from that test. Hopefully the 700w replacement ps I ordered will put an end to this nonesense. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.
