Lost and Found Like a Closet

When I download and install DAZ products, I always check "Lost and Found". There are quite a few products in there. I don't know why they are lost, but since they are found, I can find them. What I do is search in the query box the Lost and Found category, let's say Lisa's Botanicals. Then when the L&F list opens, it will show products by their names. I select the entire set of icons in the panel for that product. I don't care if they are materials, or utilites, I just want them jointly in a category I can find the product in the Smart panel. I right click, choose Category, sub-folders, then ---
I quickly browse through and look for a white highlighted line, with a check in the Lost and Found category. I uncheck that and go to my own choice of categories, usually by prop or generation, and check what boxes I want or I create a new sub-category on the spot. I do this with animals. They are Figures/Animals/species/continent. So I can find my installed animals that are only found in Africa, or India, etc. I do this with environments, and also add whether the product is Iray or 3Delight (or whatever render engine I use). I often use 3Delight products with the magic script that makes them Iray. The category keeps me from forgetting which is which.
I view the Lost and Found as a closet where things are put, just to put them somewhere and get on with business. Slow nights, with a good movie to "listen" to, I go through and recatelog Lost and Found procuts that I intend to use soon.

I think of Lost & Found more as a clothes dryer where you hope to find that missing sock.
