Subsurface vs. skin color - question

Hello!
Most of the time I do not need subsurface on my figures, so I turn it off. Or at least I try to.
It works very well on older skin textures, like Bree (the default skin texture that comes with G2F). Here I just have to turn subsurface off and raise the diffuse strength to 100%. On some third party G2F textures this works very well too (e.g. most of the Silver Countess ones).
But on all the newer default skin textures (V6, Olympia, Gia, ...) this method does not work, because you end up with a real weird and unnatural and too dark skin.
So, is it possible to turn off subrurface on these skin textures and keep the original skin color?
Thank you!
Comments
Usually most character artists supply 2 kinds of skin materials with their characters.
One set without SSS options and one with.
Using the ones without the SSS option should be the way to go if you want to achieve natural untempered results.
I'm using exactly the same method as I'm adding SSS shaders later in my renderer of choice.
Thanks for the answer!
But...
Yes, some third party figures have that option. The DAZ original figures (and many other figures also) do not have that option.
I always thought that Subsurface is an option and not a new "standard" or "must".
Try applying a material you like the settings for after applying the problem material, but hold down the ctrl key (cmd on a Mac) as you do so and in the dialogue that opens select "Ignore" for Maps.
On the AoA SSS shader check the diffuse strength and set it to 100% if it is not.
Thanks for your suggestions!
I will try them and see if it works.
