Needs OpenGl 1.3 instead of 1.1

Hello I am trying to install Daz into a:

Windows 8 64bits
Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.4Ghz
16GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 7500 Series (Microsoft Corp - WDDM v 1.20

Whenever I try to open Daz I get a box saying I need OpenGl 1.3 and tells me that I have currently 1.1
I read some of the posts on here but couldn't find a solution. So please let me know if this is fixable.
I tried installing AMD Catalyst and drivers but it seems like there is no difference. Not sure what is going on.

It may be that you have two video chips sets - I lose track of the Intel numbers but it may well be that your CPU has a GPU, and that DAZ Studio is being given that rather than the AMD card (which really should support a high-enough level of OpenGL).

ok so I'm guessing that daz is trying to use the motherboards graphics instead of Radeon card. if so how can I fix this

There should be a way to tell the system which card to use, but I'm not certain how - my system has only the external video card, no on-board. Try right-clicking the application file and see what options are available. This came fairly near the top of the search results, I don't know how useful it is http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/35736-63-selecting-gpus-default-switchable-graphics

Well I think my laptop has a switchable GPU
    It says
    Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics
    Radeon *TM) HD 6490M

The spec for the laptop is
    Windows 7 64bit
    8 GB RAM
    Intel Core i5-2410N CPU @ 2.3GHz

And I can run Daz on here but it is a little slow so I wanted to use the desktop instead.

You can disable the on-board card through the device manager (for win systems), this will force the system to use the Radeon card. Also there is usually a graphic card program that allows you set you customize the graphic's card for each program. With NVIDIA its the NVIDIA control panel, I am not sure what it is with Radeon.

Nothing should be using a Microsoft driver.
Even the onboard chip should have an Intel driver.

Microsoft stopped support for OpenGL at 1.2 when it became a competitor to DirectX.

Try the Catalyst drivers again and check they actually replace the Microsoft drivers.

I run DS 4.6 (latest build) on Windows 8.1 with both an onboard Intel Graphics card (using an Intel driver) and an nVidia GX630 4Gb (using an nVidia driver)....yada yada, and Win 8 (or 8.1) supports OpenGL 1.3..........I know 'cause I just checked, both on my computer and with Microsoft.

Maybe it is a problem with the Windows 8 build on the particular PC....?

You can of course update the OpenGL version by going to the Microsoft site and search for "Updates OpenGL". Normal updates will not do this, even if set to "Auto Download & Install".......Set MS Updates to include 3rd Party stuff and it should do it for you.

I actually experienced the exact same problem when on Windows 7 x64, until I did as above.

    Hope this helps.

Ok, it's five years later and last update I STILL get this error.  I had thought that once it was updated it would stay updated.  Does anyone have a direct link for a downloadable .exe to to install for AMD?

    Thanks,

Usually this means the video driver is not installed and windows is using the microsoft software OpenGL on vga emulation. You just need to install the video drivers for your card and the integrated intel gfx. Windows update should do it.

On the other hand if you really have stone-age hardware it may result the same. But I strongly doubt that, since it is likely that DS will not even install is such a situation.

Both the i7-3770 and the hd-7500 support up to opengl 4.

You wouldn't happen to be trying to start Daz through RDP / mstsc would you? I have this issue if I try to start it via RDP, and I need to use teamviewer or the like when trying to start it remotely.
