How do I separate Major Diameter from the Minor Diameter scaling on torus morphs?

Hi DAZ Community!

I have a project where I've attempted to create two morphs (Morph Minor Radius and Morph Major Radius) on a torus.

I've created two toruses (Torus Insert and Torus Housing) in Blender for import into DAZ Studio to help achieve these results.

Morph Minor Radius will alter the Minor Radius of Torus Housing, and Morph Major Radius will alter the Major Radius of Torus Housing.

Torus Housing (in Blender):

      Major Radius: 1 m

      Minor Radius: 0.2 m

Torus Insert (in Blender):

      Major Radius: 1 m

      Minor Radius: 0.1 m

My intended output:

Morph Minor Radius (should only affects the Minor Radius): 0.1 m - 0.2 m.

Morph Major Radius (should only affects the Major Radius): scalable as separate morph with range between 0% - 100%.

My method:

I imported Torus Housing into DAZ with my usual import settings. I morphed Torus Insert into Torus Housing with Morph Loader Pro using the default settings (I also tried many other options).

My current results:

When I apply the morph (Torus Insert) to the imported object (Torus Housing) the morph is successful, but when I use the morph it scales on the XYZ instead of only applying the Minor Radius change, which is not what I want!

How can I separate these morphs?

Thank you for your help!

I'm Glen, but you already knew that.

  • The import settings differ by a factor of 100 - that would certainly account for the morph applying an overall scale.

Thank you Richard Haseltine for solving this frustrating problem for me!

    Insert #6 shows Richard's solution:

I had set Morph Loader Pro scale to 100, but my original import scale was 10000.

By setting the scale on Morph Loader Pro to 10000, the Morph Minor Radius is now working as intended.

  • If you have settings you use frequently, or as here in different places, you should be able to click the Save Preset button next to the scale box and then the options will be available throughout, and correctly inverted for export. For soemreason that button is greyed out though, even though the preset seelction button is showing Custom.

Thanks Richard. That little button recently went grey and I can't seem to find it.

  • It will be grey while your settings match a preset, if the preset says Custim and the button is still disabled that would be an issue.
