Duplicate ID Found

I remember seeing something on this a while back, but can't find it now. Is it harmful? How do I get rid of it?

  • A Duplicate ID is, or should be, thrown only by old (pre-DS 4.5) content - DS should be able to cope with it, I did write a script to fix (most) products showing the issue but I would check to see if there is an update for the product affected first. https://www.dropbox.com/s/78mi1zh8p7udsgx/Fix Duplicate IDs.zip?dl=0

Are you sure it's Duplicate ID, not Duplicate Formulae?

It's an old Genesis clothing item. The message says (Duplicate IDs found)

  • OK, then my script may help - though there are a few items that have an unusual set up and won't work.

Hmmm... DIM's recent adding product's I've already installed, but with a "Legacy" suffix added to the name (this is fairly new), I punted and let it install them. It didn't uninstall the originals like I thought it might - so now all of those products have duplicate load icons for each load option. Example: Say I go to a product called Outfit. It had a Shirt in it as well as Pants. Now there are two items with the same exacy name for each - Shirt, Shirt - Pants Pants

I just gave a vague example since I don't recall which products were infected so far. There were quite a few though.

Anyway, your script probably wouldn't work for this, right? Just use DIM to uninstall one of the versions, right?

    Work like a charm.... Thanks!

  • I've had a few instances of the Duplicate IDs showing up, but the one that I remember was with Ying Tai for G3F (Redz). It didn't affect the loading of the character at all, it was just annoying after a while. I finally did remove the character and, of course, the Duplicate IDs stopped.

Yes, the clothing item worked fine as far as I can tell. Pretty annoying though.

If it's Genesis 1 content then uninstall the legacy version, that content is for DS4.0.

You sure it was duplicate ID's, I just checked the reviews for the product over at renderosity, and someone is complaining about missing files and duplicate formulas, which is a totally different issue.

I just had this again when loading a G8F

On trying again I see it was 'duplicate formula', and the log fiel identifies the potential culprit so not an issue.

One of the culprits,  most likely - usually this is two differnt products using the same name for one or more of their morphs, and linking that to another identically named morph. Either product alone works fine, it's when both are installed that there is an issue. Use the name of the moprh listed to identify the other product involved.

It is possible for a single product to trigger this issue, but that is much rarer.

I know from a post a couple of weeks back that Rin and Naoko don't play nice together, thier eyes closed correctives use the same internal ID, which coughs up two duplicate formula errors.

Got a "how to" for Rin posted in that thread if those are the ones causing your errors.

If you hover your mousepointer over the icons, you will see that one is a .ds? file and the other a .duf.

You can safely uninstall legacy files.
