cutting edges in half question

I'm very new to Hexagon - normally use Wings3d.

What I want to do is a loop cut around the edge of a cube, dividing it into 2 cubes stacked on top of each other. However even though I found something that said loop cut, I can't get it to do anything at all.

How do I do this?

There are two methods - under the vertex modelling tab, sixth icon from the left, click on the small arrow and you get a drop-down of cutting options. Select tessellate by slice and click on a vertical edge of the cube. Holding Shift while doing this will make a loop cut in the centre.

This method works fine while the mesh is in a simple form, but can get iffy once the mesh becomes a bit complex.

My favourite method is to select an edge, do a ring-select and connect - this automatically cuts through the centre of all the edges in the selection.

There is no tool labelled loop-cut - I think you may be referring to the loop-select tool?
