Anyone have any real experience with this product. I have a few questions before I buy it.

You could just use the instancing feature, works great since you are rendering in 3Delight. I use it often and also use decimator if the main figure is too heavy for background use.

And I don't know either of these do or how to do it, lol.

I'm amazed I can make scenes at all, lol.

To create an instance, select your object, then from the menu select "Create New Node Instance" (or "Create New Node Instances" to create a bunch at once.) Instances are identical copies, with the exception that one can rescale them (and therefore you could set a parameter's scale to -100 to create a mirror image copy to fake a different pose too.) Unlike a duplicate, it should be using less memory, and of course if the original's materials are changed, so are the instances' materials.

You might also wish to research geometry shells, which I haven't used often enough to remember how they work yet.

Hmmm ... Can I pose the 'copies' independently? Will everything on the character also be copied, like clothing and weapons?

The copies cannot be posed independently, the instance is an identical copy. Any changes you make to the original affect all instances at the same time.

Any clothing, weapons, etc. parented to the figure will also be part of the instance. Which reminds me, don't create an instance of something that has been parented to something else without first temporarily unparenting it, or the instance's origin will be way off and it will be hard to move around your scene. You can then re-parent wherever it originally was it after you have created the instance though.
