Hi everyone
At the moment at DAZ there are some heavily discounted V4 Elite textures available at DAZ
Is it worth obtaining these and converting them to Genesis 2 using the - Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female & other surface name conversion addon

Will the results be better than V6 standard skin textures - I already have V6 and was thinking of getting V6 HD textures

Has anyone experience with HD textures being way ahead of standard V6 skin

Regards M

If you go by sheer resolution, V6's default skin Belle and V4 Elite Lana are the same, 4096 x 4096 on the torso. That doesn't mean they are the same picture quality, the file size would be a better determiner of that. Even the Lana on the original Genesis is very low res, only 1024 x 1024 on the torso, which makes me consider these Elite skins before they go up in price. Also V6 is set up with Age of Armour's Subsurface Shader by default, which will likely make her look better when rendered versus the Elite skins, which use the Elite Human Skin Shader. So as a resource for textures, the V4 Elites might be a good buy, but if you want them to look on par with V6 you'll have to do some work with Subsurface shading.

    Hi

I will steer clear of any old tech then
Things are not usually put on such a drastic sale without good reason
I will stick with Genesis 2 characters, I have already written off most of my G3 & G4 except K4 which is poorly represented in Genesis

Can anyone suggest which are the best V6 or equivalent characters to get which are the most versatile
What are the real visual benefits of the HD skin textures?

    Regards M

    Hello everyone!
I’m using Poser Pro 2014 and I copied the shader settings from a loaded V4 figure and pasted to a genesis 2 figure. This image was the result. I would like to know how this happened. LOL

Simple rule of thumb for images posted on the forums...if it can be covered by a bikini...it should (probably MUST) be covered by a bikini.

I didn't see the image, but one thing to bear in mind if copying and pasting is that the different parts of the model - head, torso, limbs, mouth, eyes etc. - use different maps so a single, global, copy and paste will assign the wrong maps.
