Are you one of the DAZ Store shopaholic?

Definition of shopaholic: you don't have to use it now, but you buy it in case of the future use anyway.
I've found myself checking for my wishlists discount everyday. Two or three times a day.
I buy stuffs I barely use. It started when I found that it was great to have a lot of options to ignite my creativity.
That's it. Can't help being shopaholic now. Never thought I would reach this point. Never be shopaholic before.

I'm like that every-so-often if something REALLY catches my eye!

We actually have a DAZaholics Anonymous thread over at the PC Members forum. :)

I'm beginning to suspect it's your brain that tricks you - things look so real that it subconsciously confuses them with the real thing. "Wow, only for $19.95 for a complete house - must have that!" :wow:

That does not explain sales of the most popular items like skimpwear thatmay be price priced closer to real world costs. IN my beach town you can get a discout swimsuit gstring for 10 maybe even less. I guess digital assets dont fade in the wash.

    I am!

Make no mistake, being a PA doesn't stop me spending just an awful lot of money in the DAZ store. Sometimes I buy stuff I'll never use with the excuse that I'll have it in a promo sometime. Sometimes I turn out to be right. Sometimes not. XD

I don't have time to do fun artistic renders but I buy products for use in promos primarily.

I understand your points here! I am proud not to spend at DAZ extremely frequently (certainly not days away, rather a few purchases in a batch during sales like the Christmas one), but I'm also on the look for freebies. That said, I have some very simple techniques burnt into my Mozilla to check for them easily (like sorting by price in the all items category, which opens as one of my browser tabs). I am proud to admit I got all Christmas freebies and all the ones showcased this June-July-August. Would that count...? I don't think it is compulsive, because otherwise my wishlist wouldn't be so swollen. I can wait for months to grab that dreamed-of item. Very often, I managed to get it for free (like stuff from interactive lessons, V6, Buccaner Basics, all MilDragons except the third and all Homo Erectus).

I agree, there's probably a quite different explanation for that, at least if it's men who buy it. :) I just realize I've always thought it mostly was men who bought that kind of stuff (just like most porn is sold to men), but I may be wrong. Personally there's very little skimpwear that appeal to me, a lot of it seems to emphasize on sex while lacking beauty which just makes it look vulgar or even bizarre/grotesque, IMO. On the other hand if a product is well designed/proportioned and with real beauty I find it hard to resist no matter what it is. :)

I used to be a DAZ-a-holic, but since the introduction of Genesis 2 and DS 4.5/4.6, I've cut my yearly spending to about 1/4 of what it used to be.

Now I only buy something I really want, and more in the Stonemason/Jack Tomalin environment prop sets genre then clothing, hair, etc. They're more expensive, but I know I'll use them at some point, if not right away. I've been a PC member here for just short of 10 years, so I have most of what I want for Gen3 and Gen4 characters. If something new comes out for Genesis 1 or 2, and includes fits for V4 or M4 as well, I might consider it, but I won't run to buy it.

Wow! You lasted for three minutes?See...there's the rub. I have made VASTLY more purchases than I have made renders.

I've been 'render free' for probably a day and a half, but purchase free? No, I've made two separate purchases today alone. Sure, one was for a GC for the imminent PA sale, but still...

Some day, I'm just going to...stop buying, until my finished render count exceeds my order count; not my item count, goodness forfend, just my order count. Yeah, really I will! mutters they don't believe me...I'll show them, I'll show them all!...but not until after Stonemason's crew quarters come out...and maybe a few other PA's...and then the PC anniversary sale...

    -- Morgan

[Edit: If I add up every WIP render I've ever made that I saved to disk (I abort renders frequently, and sometimes don't save the WIP renders to disk) it adds up to around 535 renders in two and a half years. My purchase count is 715. So I'm pretty far behind the curve. DUF scenes I've created? 371, and probably some small number of DSF files that I can't find right now.]

I've been much less of a shopaholic since most of the new releases switched from Genesis to G2F/M.

I have a weird obsession about needing major figure releases, despite history telling me I'll probably only use one or two of them. I also like to buy anything I just like the look of, or anything and everything that's related to the younger generation.

I guess that makes me a DAZaholic through and through. On the plus side, my recent purchases will get a lot of mileage, especially the Japanese corridor which gives me room for some fun experimentation in Luxrender.

I'm currently lying in wait for the Faveral and Merlin PA sales (assuming I can find my credit card, that is, it's just screamed in terror and fled).

    Cheers,

    Alex.
