Genesis 3 Character UVs for Genesis 8 Female - Works for Genesis 3 as well?

Will it also let me use all the Daz Genesis 3 figures with their own UV's on other Genesis 3 females using the Base UV?  I'm guessing it will.  I have most of the Daz Genesis 3 ladies, and would like to use some of the maps like normal maps on other G3 ladies.

Unfortunately no. These UV sets are only for Genesis 8. 
But if you own Genesis 3 characters with individual UVs then you already own the UV and can use the character maps on any g3 female. It's not possible to select a different uv for just the normal maps. That said the uv differences are often quite subtle, so you might get away with it if you're not doing full body renders. Or better yet if you own the HD add-on, remove the normal maps and use the HD instead of the normal maps and increase the subdivision in parameters to three or more.

Sadly it does not work that way.

However, you have another option, but it will require some effort. You can manually "bake" the textures of your favorite G7 to match the G3 base UV. Once this is done, you can save these as a whole new set of textures that you can mix and match on any G3 and G8 model.

This thread here has a great tutorial (with pics!) for how to bake UVs. It is actually really simple to do, it just takes a little time. This process shows how to do bake G2 textures, but it is the same for G3. It is actually a bit easier since G3 has fewer material zones to deal with.  As G3's templates are different, just look at what materials are linked when you click on 'default templates' for a G3 character.

Another plus for this...it is free! You just need to take the time to do it.

Thanks Redz!  I bought the product anyways, thinking I might move to G8F.  Dang sales taking my money!
