Converting 3D object to flat 2D plane? Straightening vertices to form straight line?

Is there any way for me to convert a 3D object to a flat 2D plane?
The reason I ask is because I am working on a road system and it may come out as a 3d version once the vertices are converted, and I would like to convert it to a 2D version on a certain axis. I am using a map from Google Maps as a reference to recreate tbe road system.
Also, since I am adding vertices to each other while creating the road system, the product may come out crooked. What do I do in order to straighten the sections of a road perfectly, so that it looks almost like the section of a road in the Google Maps image?

why not use the OpenStreetMap plugin to do your road?

mind you I have never used that one, I use the standalone app or the Twinmotion one
I tried to install the add-on into Blender, but for some reason the add-on won't show in my list of add-ons. Why is this?
I know Blender is updated to a new style/version (I presently use a newer version I installed last January), but I'd like to ask, how do I install the OpenStreetView add-on to Blender?
I learned there is a premium version that I would have to purchase, and I must say, it is far better and well worth paying almost twenty extra dollars. When I have some extra money to spare, I may consider the premium add-on later this week.
you could try the free option I use not using Blender

as I said I have never used the Blender one
I figured out how to install the add-on in Blender after viewing a YouTube demonstration.
I did also learn some interesting stuff about creating terrain, and even adding some buildings, but no houses. I also learned how to add an image to the terrain. It turns out that the standard product doesn't have all the buildings, which is why I decided to purchase the premium version last night. The Premium version also has the ability to add textures to buildings too. I will be installing it later today, since I am at work right now.
It really surprises me that I would install the add-on by clicking on a .zip folder. That wasn't the case before when I installed add-ons.
I was also quite amazed that I could create a full large terrain using such add-on in Blender. However, I have no intention to create large cities in Blender. Maybe a few neighborhoods, but that's about it. As for whole communities, I may stick to just large towns such as Gander or Clarenville, Newfoundland and Labrador.
At least this add-on will allow me to create full communities which in turn will result in no more money being spent on buildings.in the DAZ Shop nor any site. It will also mean no more purchases in TurboSquid (and many of the neighborhoods and full communities are very expensive, some in the hundreds of dollars).
I also hope there is a free add-on for re-creating underwater coral reefs - that will also save me plenty of money in the long run.
Ah I see the paid Blender one includes additional buildings to the generic blocks based on footprints and heights mine does
glad it is useful
