dForce hair not appearing render preview

I purchased the "dForce Stephanie Ponytail for Genesis 8 Females."  It shows up in an actual render, however in render preview mode the scalp is colored but the hair/ponytail is invisible, which will be a pain in trying to preview scenes.  Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

  • I think the problem is related to dForce.  It appears that non-dForce hair shows up in render preview, but dForce hair doesn't.

  • I found discussion of my issue...but the solution Quixotry gives doesn't seem to work for me.

    Quixotry said:

"... Dforce hair is set up to not show in preview modes to help  keep the hair from hogging resources on your computer, so it's odd if you're used to other types of hair props that just show as you would expect. If you want to see dforce hair in the preview render, be sure to do this:

"With the hair selected, go to the Parameters tab. Turn Preview PR Hairs on and set Line Tessilation to 2 or 3. That will make everything show in a preview render. This will probably cause lag in your viewport, though. My DS slows down drastically with dforce hair showing all the time like that, so I only change those settings to check how light looks on the hair, then reset them to the default."

  • Well...crap!  Now the hair is not appearing even when I do an actual render.  Things are getting worse!

  • Done.  I figured it out.  Man, Daz has a steep learning curve!

Yes it does. I have been using it for years and still find new things I didn't know. glad you got it figured out.

  • Could I ask what the solution is? I own a few Dforce hair sets, and have given up trying to use them (at least until my new PC is built).

    Greetings!

About dforce hair preview rendering, how did you solve this problem?

Line Tessalation and Preview PR Hairs didn't help!

  • Make sure "Viewport Line Tesselation Sides" is set to 2 or 3. The setting "Render Line Tesselation Sides" doesn't affect the preview
