Am I missing something?

Is this month's freebie (http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/project-black-bird) really a texture set to a model that I have to purchase?

    Yes, and this isn't the first time a texture set for a base model has been offered for free.

    Yes, but I think in those cases the model was either widely available (i.e. V4, Genesis, etc.), was on sale at the same time, or was a previous free item.

    I don't recall there being a situation like this, where it was a full price PA item that was required.

    Yep and it's poser only too.
    But it counts as one of your punches so I think that's why they did it. At least it's in the punchworthy group so I am assuming it counts.

    That seems to be a PA item, so it may not be the DAZ weekly or monthly freebie.

    Confirmed, 'just textures'. The zip folder is over 466mb in size.

    Providing one has the geometries to load the figure/prop(s), the textures are image files so could be manually applied in D/S if they don't otherwise load. There don't appear to be any mat files for either program.

    no. you don't have to purchase the model.

    Well, I have.

    Anyway, here are the white textures rendered in DAZ Studio without any tweaks on my part.

    All you have to do is save it from poser, doing the usual option changes to save your .pz3 (save without external .pmd), and then merge the .pz3 into DAZ Studio. You will have a starting point from where to start changing the materials to have a compatible version in DAZ Studio. Obviously, you will have to have Poser.

    SoulTaker meant that no one is forcing you to purchase the model.


    I don't recall there being a situation like this, where it was a full price PA item that was required.

    Also, I just took a look at the BEO Arch Angel and it is on sale at 30% off. Are you not seeing the 30% off?

    Oh ok, I wasn't sure the point SoulTaker was trying to make. I thought something was being lost in translation.

    And now that you mention it, the Arch Angel is on sale now. I don't think it was on sale for me this morning. Or I might not have been logged in or something.
