What does your Daz Layout look like?

Greetings

I have been running the default Daz theme/layout with everything in it's default location.

Lately, I've been noticing when I watch a Daz Tutorial, that often, the TUT Author's set up is far from the default.  I am guessing years of using Daz in all its iterations has honed their work flow to be as efficient for them as possible.

As I newbie though, color me intrigued.

If you are using something other than the default, you mind posting a screenshot and giving a tiny explantion of why-you-have-it-the-way-you-have-it?

I know everyone is different, but hey, I don't know what I don't know, so I love to see what works for you!

I use "Highway" default, with the "Smart Content", "DAZ Connect", and that one screen where it renders a preview of your viewport (because it slows my laptop down, so it's better without it), removed.

Three monitors, left = Content Library, middle = Scene and Parameters, right = Viewport

Mine is heavily customized -- no "rooms", no toolbars, lots of extra menus on the top menu bar.

Mine isn't far from the default. I like the biggest veiwport I can get and all the panes I need have tabs along the side of the other window in the viewpoprt to the left. i also have my toolbar across the top and the most used items in the scripts dropdown

I NEVER use smart content or connect and find everything thru the content library like it is installed.

i think i just use the default workspace.

I put some effort into customisation a year or so ago but I didnt save as preset and lost it when i reinstalled.

The only modification i made to my current layout was adding Mesh Grabber tool into the main tool menu.

I too never use Smart Content or Connect so I have the Content tree open to find my stuff. I have quite a few Custom shortcuts, some of which I have created icons for and put them in various toolbars. Sometimes an update breaks the layout so I have to start over but maybe I find better options when I do that so I don't mind too much. The placing of actions/icons on the toolbars tends to be pretty unstable and it often happens that if I minimise the screen and then go back to Full Screen, they have all shifted position. A small annoyance but I can restore it by minimising and going back to Full Screen again.

That is an interesting layout Marble. I like the icons to the side and top. Interesting that your library starts with DIM CONTENT.

  • Is it possible to export a layout?  So folks could post it here for others to try out?

I collapse the auxilliary viewport when I'm not using it.

Yep, find your settings in the DAZ folder in AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/Studio 4 (or Studio 4 Public Build)/user layouts. Identify the layout based on what you named it (I tend to name mine based on the date and Studio version, so it looks like: 12.29.20 4.14 Layout)

From there, you could save the Daz Script 2 (Ascii), Daz Shared XML, and PNG files (yes, all three) somewhere on your PC. Upload from that location if these forums allow it.
