How do you create the glowing effect as seen in the sample images. See Sample.

I can not figure it out.

Try loading uberEnvironment 2 and in the Lights pane or the Light section of the Parameters pane set it to Bounce (GI) or Indirect Lighting.

Thanks for the response Richard. Try UE2 with both settings but did not get the glow effect.

Hmm, yes -that didn't work for me. There's a tutorial video, which I didn't download - see if that explains how to achieve the effect.

Open Shader Mixer, click File->New Shader, then select Camera on the drop-down windowette that appears and press OK. Next, look for the brickyard repository (bottom left part of Shader Mixer), expand Roots and expand Lights (yeah I know, but bear with me), and double click or drag "Indirect Light [camera]" to the main part of the window. Click the green Create button, select your indirect camera and render. The default amount of samples is 64, which can be a bit high, and thus slow to render. Reduce it either in the Shader Mixer (by expanding the Samples section on the camera you dragged or double clicked) or in the Parameters tab or in the Camera tab.

Are you talking about the hazy overall glow effect.
    I haven't found a way to do that in-render.

The shader mixer setups get way beyond my understanding very quickly.

Instead I got the lighting sort of close, then took it to photoshop.
Use the usual Gaussian Blur and Screen mode for the glow effect.

Got the Indirect Lighting camera to work pretty well. Still not quite like the sample, but a lot closer thanks for the information.

Going to try the Photoshop approach next, but I was hoping that this was an in render technique without working it in post.

After more tries I still have not recreated the "Glow Effect" from the product sample. Would there be any way to contact Dimension Theory? I have looked for a way to send him a PM, but can not find one.

    Hi,

I think to solve that seems to be quite easy.

    1. Let the sphere emit light itselfes.
Set the ambient strength of the surface properties to 100%

    2. Set up some kind of bouncing light.
Choose UE2 with indirect lighting. Indirect lighting strength to 70% - 100%. As well the main intensity to 70%.
Set max trace distance to endless ( = 0 ).

Start a test render without any further light source.
Let us know about the outcome.
