Conversion between sss mono and sss chromatic

Hi, I would like to know how could I convert a skin shader setting from sss mono to sss chromatic with as little difference in render outcome as possible? I know the sss color and sss reflectance tint would come into effect so I would use Scatter Only mode Thanks!

  • You can try multiplying the transmitted measurement distance by about 2 and scattering measurement distance by about 2. That usually works well for me.

Hi David, thank you so much to your prompt reply. Do I need to change the translucency color and transmitted color? And is there a *safer* sss color which I can use? Thank you very much!
  • Actually, not multiply by 2 but by 5-10, sorry.

I dont touch those, more the "spectral rendering intent" and "spectral observer" render settings. They have slight differences, so I just experiment around til I like it.

the safer SSS color is usually the default that DAZ uses, pinkish (R249, G177, B194).

Hi David, got it! Thank you so much.
  • Hi CHWT, sorry I got it backwards lol. it should be divide by 5-10, not multiply. let me know if it works for you.
