Dupercating body parts

Hi 

I was wondering is it possible to make copys of just body parts like arms & leggs seperately and turning them into seperate figures?  So if I wish to create a robot or a humand android with 2 set of arms I can just copy the body parts from one of the base figures and convert them into their own figures. I hope I am explaing this correctly?

    It would probably be easier to load a second figure and hide the parts you don't want to see.
