Divide bone and redistribute weight influences to new child?

Is there an easy way to split a bone in a rig, and distribute the weight mapping of the original weights to blend across the new child bone? Either inside of DAZ or externally?
i.e.) add a split in the middle of the current breast bone, and have the mapping split as well?

You can copy the weight from the main bone to the child bones, but easy way, nope, you will need to reduce influences between each other, thus, depends of your rigging if Triax or normal weight modes.
the savvys...correct me if I wrong?
Copy weights at 50% is not the way because new bone, child or not, needs its own influence on the geometry around, regardless if near the main bone or not, just Copy AND modify on the second bone or your child bone, easy like that.
you are in "dangerous terrains" about weight mapping, and you must be skilled in how to reverse all if wrong.
is strongly not recommend alter weight maps if you are merely beginner on that skill. and bone editor too.
Remember DazStudio is a "3D ilustration" software and is pretty limited in tools and mainly focused on play with prepaid assets, prepaid lights, prepaid poses, prepaid All and no modelling capabilities, and so on...
I would prefer to do that task on big leagues like Maya, 3DMax or Cinema4D, even Blender, IF your project will be used outside Daz environment, inside DS, well, you get many tools for a free software, limited but free.
