How hard is this Iray Decals product to use?

I'm interested in a product that's on a sale today - WetFX Decal & Shader Kit. I'm really only interested in the "wet" decals, I don't think I have a use for soap or milk. I want to use it on things like mermaid tails, outfits and floors.
Does anyone have any experience with this product? Is it hard to use? I've never used Iray Decals before, so I'm not sure how difficult they are to use. Is there a product you would recommend instead?

...I've been having difficulties with it. I get a bounding box for the decal when I apply it ot say an arm or leg but when I select one of the decal mats it doesn't show up on the render. I looked to see if there was PDF or HTML user guide that may have installed somewhere but was unable to find one .
Ah, that's exactly what I needed to know. I certainly don't want to try something like that without a good manual or guide, especially if it's difficult to use. Thank you for letting me know!
If you have enough computer card for the Iray Preview viewport, it is dead easy or if you learn where to place them and use a spot render or two. If you can stand videos, this one is relatively brief and a complete instruction and well worth watching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fROdn_DMr8&t=901s Once you understand the concept well enough, placing them becomes second nature.
I bought a decal product, struggled half a day and then gave in and returned it. I rather use LIE for these things.
...I did another search checked the ReadMe on file, the readmes folder in the Daz/Library, and looked at the installed packages in the IM installed tab and was unable to find any sort of guide either in PDF, HTML or text formats. I even uninstalled, deleted re-downloaded (just in case there was an update I missed as for a number of months I had issues with the IM so I was manually downloading for a while) and reinstalled it, but no guide is indicated in the package list.
I also checked DA for a tutorial, but found nothing there either.
This might help (it is a pdf from one of the iray decal products): http://docs.daz3d.com/lib/exe/fetch.php/public/read_me/index/37479/37479_iray-decal-kit-user-guide.pdf
I don't know about this product specifically but I don't find decals hard to use.
The only counter-intuitive part about them is the "direction" of the decal. It's always the opposite direction of the blue arrow.
Always make sure that:
- The surface you're projecting on is within the decal bounding box, and
- When selecting the decal bounding box with the translation tool, make sure the blue arrow points away from the surface you're projecting on.
The attached example was made with decals from the Slime and Goo product by the same vendor:
it's an ok way for some things, for other tings I prefer LIE esp, when it comes to stuff that sticks on something I use on more than one render. If you want to get somtheing really dirty like clothes, skin and what not equally, decal is sure an option, though I have no experience with more than one in one render
I love decals...have pretty much all of KA's decal products. Use them religiously and I've never found them difficult to use. You just need to use the Iray preview.
i struggle with some products that don't have instructions (and some that do) but this one is easy and if you check this out you will have no problems...
Once you get used to using decals these products are quite easy to use and I have several of KA's I utilize. Don't give up on them, they're very handy.
One thing that is really frustrating is Daz's inability to allow decals on geoshells.
Since geoshells are fancy instances, they must reflect the original so they can't separately use an Iraq decal.
Thanks, everyone. I think I'm going to skip this one for now. I can't use the Iray Preview mode, my computer is pretty old and has trouble with even rendering iray. So maybe I'll look at it again if I can get a new computer some time.
Thank you all!
...indeed, Iray View Mode is a no go if you have an older GPU with a low core count and VRAM or are stuck on the CPU as the screen refresh is excruciatingly slow every time you make any sort of move (including the camera). I also have older tech which doesn't respond well in Iray Mode.
Figuring about standalone decal and wearable decal on geoshell by myself for a while, I guess you know the result so, Thanks for your confirmation
