g1 start pose for g8 etc

is there a set of poses that puts all of the generations in the start pose for other generations? 
auto fitting is incredible in most cases but like now when I tried  to fit a shield from a gen 2 set onto a gen 8 character it but it on the characters bones properly (on left hand obviously) but in the scene it's floating above where the gen 2 arm would be
so if I could apply the g2 start pose to my g8 than in should be in the right place and I got reparent in place? 
Now I can certainly place in manually but I have had this happen a few times and I'm lazy so having the base poses would seem to have the possibility of making it easier?
