How Do You Move DAZ Studio and DAZ Central to a new computer?

The good news:  I got a new computer for Christmas.  The bad news:  Alhough I can install DAZ Central on my new machine, I cannot get DAZ Studio installed.  I have tried doing this many times and always get the same error message:  "Load library failed with error 87. The parameters are incorrect."

I would very much appreciate any assistance that might be able to walk me through this puzzle.  I did send a request for help to DAZ technical support and received a answer that it might take 4 to 6 weeks for any reply.

Happy New Year to my fellow DAZ artists friends.  ---  Vic

  • Mac or Windows? If it's a Mac it's probably running MacOS Big Sur, and Daz applications are not yet compatible with that.

  • Thank you Richard for your reply.  I should have mentioned that this is a Windows to Windows move.  Same current, up-to-date, operating system is both machines. That's why the repeated error message "Load library failed with error 87. The parameters are incorrect" is so strange.

  • Have you tried Install Manager? https://www.daz3d.com/get_install_manager/

  • DAZ Studio and DAZ Central are now installed.  The problem is DAZ Studio does not open and instead always just gives the same error message:  "Load library failed with error 87: The parameter is incorrect".

DAZ Central appears to be working normally.   Anyone have any ideas?

first, you install blank Daz and everything on the new computer

then you bring Daz 3d folders from Users .... AppData and overwrite your instalation

remember that there may be be folders in both your local user directory and public

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D

    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D

if you had some plugins installed in the program files folder before installing Daz you should first drop Daz directory from your old computer in the program files folder as well. then overwrite it with the new installation as if you were updating from the older version before doing anything mentioned above

this way you should have petty much everything lined from your old computer including workspace configuration
