Black lines and weird hair glow on render.

Hi,

First of all I'm relatively new to the Daz3D scene and I could use some general tips on my renders, so If you have some constructive feedback, go ahead.

Secondly, I'm having a regular issue of some black lines appearing on some of the characters attributes. For example in the attached picture on the male character you can see black lines on his right shoulder.
Also his hair has some weird glow on it. What is causing these issues, and how can I resolve them?

Thanks in advance.

    Good Morning!
The hair looks like the skullcap may be poking through the forehead you can try going into the parameters tab and in the general/scaling section try adjusting the overall scale to 100.1 to 100.5 that will usually take care of it. The glow it's getting is actually a specular it looks like you can go into the Surface Tab (with the hair selected in the scene tab) and just darken the gloss color and that shoud help.
Looks like your male is wearing a skin created for another character without the appropriate UV Set. Which Base male figure are you using and which character skin did you apply to him? It may just be a case of needing to go into the surface tab/select the Skin/Lips/Nails option and then in the small search bar on the upper right of the Surface Tab type in UV then you should be able to change the UV Set to whichever one the character is for if you have it available.

  • I was using FWSA Ryker but I tinkered with the skin color and skin tones which I guess somehow made those black spots appear.

In the end I reapplied all of his maps which fixed the black spots. Widening the hair and changing the gloss color did help, so thank you for that.

All I have to do now is to find a way to match his skin color to that of the girls. Or something similar.

You can adjust the skin lightness/darkness via the Translucency slider on the Surface Tab. Lower = Lighter/Higher = Darker
I've attached an example image of Ryker with nothing but the Translucency adjusted up to 0.99 for the Skin & Lips only, the nails are a lower setting so I would suggest around 0.95 for them.
