Imported OBJ Having Problems With Shaders on Surfaces
Hi!
I found an OBJ file on some random website, of a full 3D model of Howarts Castle.
When I imported it to Daz3d it comes in as one uniform plain milky white color. Luckily, the object does have lots of individual surfaces. So I expected I would be able to select these surfaces and apply shaders, such as for stone walls and roof tiles, etc.
Unfortunately, while this does cause the right 'color' to apply to the surface most of the shader doesn't work properly. Like a section that should use a shader for a stone wall will become the grey color of stone but not show the base image file's texture, or use any associated displacement maps the shader had. I have never encountered an object that fails to use shaders correctly.
Anyone have a thought on why this is happening?

The object is not UV-mapped. UV-map the object.
Thanks! That gives me a line of investigation. I've never had to create a UV map, I usually stick to Daz store assets so I haven't had to change things like that before.
I'll look to see if I can find a tutorial on YouTube.
