Homemade clothing won't rig to figure anymore

I've done this before and it worked well. I created a body suit in another program, brought it in, rigged it to my figure, and it was no problem. Now instead of creating a skeleton in the bodysuit, it creates a single bone called 'bone'. I'm using 4.12 of Daz. It happens on genesis 2 and 3. And it used to work fine. I parent it to g2 or g3, depending on what I started with to create the bodysuit. I go into Edit, Object, Rigging, Convert Prop To Figure. And instead of it saying hip, it says bone. And there's just one bone. It just started happening too. Is it me? Is it an update? Is there a workaround?

Edit>Figure>Transfer Utility is what you want, converting to figure doesn't match the rigging of the figure you want to use it with at all.
I don't even get to that point anymore. I'm importing an OBJ from 3D Coat. It needs to be converted to a figure. This used to work.
What do you mean you don't get to that point? Transfer Utility works on the OBJ, you don't need to pre-convert it to a figure.
Wow. I didn't know you could transfer from a figure to an object. Thanks Richard.
