Genesis - export, modify and import back UV map

Hi guys ^ girls,

My newbie question is: Are there ways to export a figure with it's UV maps (for example Genesis base mesh), change the UV in any software (3ds max or hexagon or any) and import this UV back to DAZ. In other words - when you export a posed body, it can have the changed UV every time?

Cheerz!

If you export Genesis as a Wavefront OBJ mesh file, it will contain the current UV mapping information.

If you then change the mapping, you would then save as an OBJ again, and import that into DAZ Studio.

It might be easier to help you, if you were to explain what you are trying to do? Genesis is already UV Mapped for several figures, V4, M4 and the Kids 4, and you can change the selected UV set in the Surfaces pane.

You can import an OBJ as a new UV set, so if you exported in a specific pose you could get a UV customized for that specific pose. The real question is whether or not it's worth the trouble.

Unless you're getting severe stretching in some areas, there's a lot of work for little gain. Furthermore, the texture maps wouldn't match the new UV's unless the changes were subtle enough to fit on the original template.
