    You do some very interesting compositions.

    Turning the camera so that the vertical lines get more of a one point perspective will push the notion that she is falling. I also do not understand why her hand would be open on the knife. Consider playing up the light to give her a little more rim to distinguish her from everything else since she is as dark as her environment. Within a story shot, it might work, but if you're doing posters, keep in mind that these are more of what we call "beauty shots" so are normally very engineered to really lead your viewer to focus on just what you want them to see.

    Her hands are open as she's releasing the blades (there are two, one for each hand) as she falls.

    One point would transform the image and heighten the fall, yes. I wasn't thinking about that, I must admit.

    As for the lighting and beauty shots... I would hope she's as dark as her surroundings as she's in them. I light my renders like I light movies. I have worked in the film industry for the last fourteen years (mostly in the camera dept.) and wish to keep my work more in the narrative rather than the commercial (as in product). Usually, the renders I have done are me playing around, learning some aspect of 3D or just combating boredom as I learn the world of 3D and Daz3d. I should invest more thought and time in my renders and really approach each as though I'm hired to create them or just simply to do my best. Especially considering that "Gods & Monsters" is a project I'm working to bring to life.

    I'll work harder to produce better renders.

    I like the Vs pointing down now. It forces you down and point to your character. There's a bit more mist on the background which lightens it just a bit more and highlights her cool tones against the warm background.     The one thing I was going to comment on was you mentioned your cinematic background and that is certainly apparent in your compositions. While you spoke about wanting to focus on the narrative, remember that in film the story is supported by many things that can unfold because it's film. You are choosing to present in illustrative format, so the goal has to be to do everything and place everything just right to support the narrative at a glance. Keep in mind that when I didn't understand what was happening with the open hands and knives, it required you to explain it. The better your composition, the quicker you convey ambience, emotion, story.

    You certainly have a flair for this and I look forward to watching you continue to grow. Keep them coming!

    Page one there is being edited based on notes from friends/colleagues. The font color and choice suck, bottom two panels will be switched. Any thoughts from anyone? Any thoughts on the cover idea?

    Ok, here's my thoughts on the cover:

    I'm divided on this. I'm imagining myself in the comic shop, or browsing online, and seeing your cover.

    I think it does what you intend it to do, ie get people curious enough to pick it up/check it out and look inside.

    This is something I *might* do depending on how much other stuff I'm buying that week. If I have a full load I may not even check anything else out. If there's room in the budget I'll probably give it a go.

    On the other hand, you've got some pretty awesome renders in this thread, it seems a shame not to grace your cover with some of that artwork. If I see some cool art on the cover, I'll definitely check it out.

    Well, this may leave you back at square one, but I think this is looking great in any case.

    I did do some variations on the cover and they weren't up to snuff for a cover, especially number one. This cover came into being because the pressure was stupid and I just didn't know what to do. Sure it can make someone interested to discover what's inside but in all honesty, that wasn't the reason.

    I sketched up an idea tonight. I'll get it rendered up and posted soon.

    Here's the first pass at the sketch I did up - not complete yet (missing some FX work).

    Like the direction? Any thoughts?

    This is hard considering no one really knows anything about "G&M". I'm gonna do up the FX and post that. Will probably then "walk away" from it until the issue is complete.

    Hi, Shawn. It's not feeling like a cover yet. It's too much a collage. You need the cinematic approach you had on the posters. The mechanical figures lose their scale, the bullets don't seem to come from anywhere. There is no story here yet which you displayed in the posters. Just my 2 cents.

    As always, thanks Cris. I'd say my biggest concern from your notes would be the bullets. I need to get across that they're coming from his hands. The mechs losing their scale is a great note.

    As far as the collage note, I was trying to go for a collage type image but the more I look at it, the more I want something different. I'll keep working on the cover design. I'm feeling the pressure of making that first impression with issue number one's cover. :)

    Your character really commands attention- has such a strong build, but also that stance means business. The amount of work you put into this really shows :)
