Trying to make a video

I managed to make a video with about 30 frames, and it worked! Ok, it's lame, but it worked.
With this lame success, I planned, fiddled, played the time line lots of times, then rendered for 9 hours. The goal was to wind up with VideoGoal.jpg, but the resulting avi looks nothing like it. VideoResult.jpg
So what went wrong?

819 x 594 - 83K

1040 x 728 - 102K

How are you setting up this animation, what are you using for the symbols, and where are they moving from or to?
What does your start frame look like, and what does the animation actually do?
Wouldn't let me post the 30 frame video as it's too big, so I uploaded it to http://youtu.be/CqkdIIIaWaM As the failed video is 4gb, I'll refrain from uploading it.
Each image is a plane primitive with opacity set to a jpg image. The sky is the "fober world dome." The world rotates 363 degrees in the 5190 frames so the clouds drift by. The planes just kindof fly into position one at a time.
It works if I render it in 2 pieces, the first 2500 frames, then the last 2600 or so. I can put the two pieces together in windoze movie maker and add the music. Hmm, didn't come out too bad for first try. Oh, dang, about 1/2 a second short.
Anyhow, I'll move that light a little, maybe change that graphic and I think it's a go!
Seems to be working now:
First, download Virtual Dub.
Second, render to individual frames.
Third, use Virtual Dub to assemble the frames into a monster size avi.
Fourth, use Windoze Movie Maker to make an mp4 of the avi.
