rendering time gpu

Hello, can someone help me with gpu. i have NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060.

I checked the box in the rendering to use the gpu but it only goes to 3% when rendering. I checked it through the control panel. How can i make it use more gpu rather than my cpu?

thank you!

If your scene does not fit on the GPU, usually because of the number or size of textures, Daz Studio will use your CPU to render, and not your graphics card.

  • How do I know the fit?

That comes with trial and error.  There are two versions of the 1060.  One has 3 Gb of VRAM, and the other has 6 Gb.  Without knowing which one you have, it's hard to say what you can expect to accomplish with it.

In order to avoid the render falling back to CPU, the first thing to do is uncheck the CPU for rendering.  Then disable Fallback to CPU.  That way, you'll get a black render right away, and will know you have to make adjustments to make sure your scene for it to fit on the GPU.

Another thing to do is to make sure you you have a recent video card driver from Nvidia.  It should be 460.something or 461.something.

Try loading anything and see if will render.

As for what scenes you can render with a 6 Gb GPU, that will depend on what's in the scene.  Most of your video card's memory is taken up by textures.  You can increase the number of characters, etc, by slimming down the size of textures, and discarding textures like normals and bump maps that are not needed for objects that are either out of focus or far from the camera, or using lower resolution textures.  There are some products that can help with this, but you can do this manually, too.

Mostly, you will have to spend time doing renders, and watching Youtube videos and checking the forums.  Fitting stuff on video cards is a popular topic on the forums and there are a lot of threads about just that.
