Problem loading Content Library items

Hi there, long time Poser user (Since V4-1999)... very VERY new to Daz Studio... So I have some concept of what is happening, but I'm new to the formatting.

I'm learning Daz Studio and I have Gen2 going for me. I've installed other mods on Gen2 Female, but every so often they don't load.

For example: I just purchased "Faces of Asia" and I can see the shapes for the faces in my Content Library... but double clicking on them does nothing... rather, I see DS bring up a dialogue box, the editor "Currently Used" section flickers and opens and closes, but I don't get any new dials, I still have only my normal "Basic Female Head" dial.

Now I have noticed that there are TWO Daz 3D folders in my Users Directory (I'm not exactly sure how that happened... since there is no difference in the name... and that shouldn't be able to occur- They are EXACTLY the same name... weird - See attached Jpg- Here's to hoping that doesn't end time and space or something). One has the content loader and the other my ancient Daz Studio installation from a year or so ago.

Clearly something is not quite right, and being someone who has cultivated a 15 year old Runtime I'm totally willing to get into the guts of this thing and square it away... I just need some help on this :D

Should I merge these two folders together (Hopefully not bringing an end to time and space while I do it)?

You also have two Smith Micro folders. Exactly what are you viewing in that screenshot?

Well, at least this explains that... I'm looking at Libraries/Documents/MyDocuments AND Libraries/Documents/Public Documents . Gotta love it when Windows helps out.

Anyway, I'm also noticing that the Gen2 Extended morphs are not in. Strangely enough I installed Satsuki and she's all in there, I can get to all of her dials.

Alright, I went on ahead and uninstalled everything, uninstalled the old copy of Daz Studio from a year ago, I removed everything and am starting from scratch. Let's see if that solves the problem.

Do you have both versions of the folder (DAz 3D\Studio\My Library or whatever is in the DAZ 3D folder0 added as content directories in DS, both the one in Public Documents and the one in My Documents?

Well... so now I'm cleaning everything up. I think that might have been part of the problem. I clearly had a D|S 4 and D|S 4.6 installed on the system and I think that may have been why the content management loader was very confused. I uninstalled all of it, deleted the files in my Program Files (X86) folder and the ones in the Documents folders, Uninstalled the content manager and wiped the system of the whole mess.

Now I'm going through and reinstalling from scratch.

I'm only 5 days into D|S, so this isn't bad at all. I'm taking this opportunity to clean up my old Poser Runtime for integration into D|S. I had done that sloppily earlier, so I wanted to do it better now.

Well... now it looks like it's being too smart for it's own good... it's remembering the old paths, so now I'm getting the "Could not open file" errors on 50% of the things... (Because though I deleted everything, apparently it remembers where it USED to be)...

MAN this is frustrating. I can't wipe and repave... I can't see any way to fix this except to manually move half of the 50 items I have installed...

    Advice?

Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Direct Manager, and under both "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats" add/remove the paths to show only the correct ones.

Thank you, that was awesome! I'm cleaning that all up now...

Still can't apply Faces of Asia and I can only load Genesis via the tutorial versions (Firey Genesis and Dragonslayer)... I'm kinda struggling to get it all together, but I think I might have it :)

Am I missing something like Faces of Asia is for Genesis 2 and I'm trying to apply it to a Genesis 1 figure? How can I tell?

You can tell what a product is for, errors aside, by looking in the additional information tab (the one that is open by default under the image and the blurb on the product page) For faces of Asia it reads:

Compatible 3D Figures Genesis 2 Female

Alright, I figured it all out. I have a Genesis 1 female I'm trying to apply Genesis 2 morphs to... I wish it would just say "You can't do that" instead of saying "Sure!" And then not doing it... I'm all rigged up now. Thanks for the help!
