Futura Clothes for Genesis 3 Female - Materials are all wrong

I just bought Future Clothes for Genesis 3 Females (https://www.daz3d.com/futura-clothes-for-genesis-3-female-s) and tried apply the materials that come with. I'm not getting the materials I apply. In most cases, the materials are just gray. In other cases, the coloring applied is another one than what's shown in the PNG preview for the material. It's very strange and I've never encountered this kind of thing before. It's like the files are all scrambled.

    Have you tried rendering?

  • Yes. It's no different than what I see in Iray preview. There are 10 material presets for the clothing items. None of them work as expected. Some apply a different material, several apply nothing and the clothing item is gray.

Hmmm, I have this outfit for quite some time and all works well.

Are the materials definitely Iray and not 3Delight? Judging by the SKU this is quite early in the Iray rollout period, when many of the new items were still 3Delight-only. Custom 3Delight materials assembled in the Shader Mixer also frequently render all grey in Iray.

Looking at the What's Included, it mentions Displacement and Reflection texture maps. This is definitely pointing towards 3Delight or custom materials, since Iray doesn't use Reflection and usually shouldn't use Displacement.

Do you render in 3Delight or Iray?

It appears the materials are all 3Delight; there's no Iray option for them. However, I'd expect that if they were 3Delight, the worst I would see is a washed-out look to the colors when I render in Iray. What I'm seeing is a complete mismatch of materials when I apply them an how they appear in the viewport in texture shaded or cartoon shaded. For example, when I apply MAT07, it appears as MAT01. MAT09 only appears gray unless I render it in 3Delight. There are other, weird variations as well.

Oh my, I just checked and you are totally right, I have the same issues.

  • After a bit of testing, it looks like the materials are a combination pack, some are conventional 3delight, some are custom shaders.

Presets 1-3 appear to be conventional 3delight shaders.

Presets 4-9 are more of a procedural shader that doens't translate to iray.
