"Magnetic Force" Effects

There are a lot of ray-gun blasts, magical rune effects, heat-vision type effects etc. but does anyone know of any similar products that appear to be "magnetic waves"? Kind of like the below icon, but scalable. I have a character that is about to get magnetic super-powers and having a hard time finding something. Could do it in post, but I may regret relying on that.

That might best be achieved with a prismatic effects. Perhaps creating relevant shapes, such as spheres and rigns, with a water or glass shader and reducing any opacity?

That's a thought. I could open up geometry editor and see if I can come up with a few variations of sections of cylinders, spaced apart, with different scaling, then play around with shaders.
