Need Help Getting Clothing to Lay Flat(ter) When Using a Pose It Probably Wasn't Designed For.

So this is a skills-building exercise for me. This example uses the "As You Wish" Genie clothing bundle by Slosh for G2F.

The pose is an example of a pose where the clothing I chose can't hang and drape in a realistic manner, because it's designed to lay "only so close" to the body. So I had to pose her hands elevated off of her leg. But the pants don't look realistic in this pose anyway because they won't drape onto her leg like real harem pants would in our gravity-constrained world, and they also can't compress between the floor and those parts of her legs that are touching the floor.

This clothing set is fabulous and there's nothing wrong with it. It's just not designed for poses such as this.

So the reason for my post today is to start my education on how to make clothing conform a bit better in cases like this.

I've marked up the attached render for your visualization.

Have you tried resizing along one or two axes?

There is only one size (scale) slider for the pants in this case. Sliding it does not seem to decrease the "width" of the pant, but decreases the depth from front to back (along the "bent" axis of her legs), making her knees poke through fairly quickly.

Manipulation of translation AND size sliders together show almost no real visible improvement.

    Two graphics attached -

#1 shows that there is only one slider for sizing/scaling the clothing article.
#2 shows a partially completed spot render with some rudimentary size and translation adjustments.

Thank you for the suggestion. It was good for me to go through this process and try it, but this one didn't pan out.

Does anybody have any other ideas?

You need to use the drop-down menu in the Parameters pane, and then select 'Show Hidden Properties'. The all of the Scale parameters will show up.

Look at the top right of the Parameters pane for a little triangle and four horizontal lines for the drop-down menu.

Though for at least some of that you are going to need to use DForms, especially on the area the hands are compressing since it's part of the upper leg only. If this a stock pose or one of your own?

    Hi Richard:

It is a stock pose from my library with minor alterations to arms, hands, and head, and a whole new facial expression pose. I was just goofing around and didn't look in the info to see if these were poses from DAZ or from a PA(s).

You said DForms and I've seen that term before. I just wasn't remembering what the keyword was, so thank you; I'll take myself to school now and will come back if I have questions or run into trouble.

    Thanks!

The pants do have some morphs in them to make a tighter fit, for the entire leg or for thigh or shin only. These may not be enough of a slimming factor for you, but give them a try and see if it helps some :) The morphs are located in the parameters tab.

After that, using deformers as suggested above will help even more. I would have loved to make the outfit "dynamic", but as of this time, it is not something we designers can do in DAZ Studio yet. There are a few clothing modelers who have the ability to make clothing dynamic, but it is not available to all of us.
