Going from Daz Studio 3 Advanced to Daz Studio 4.6 Pro
Hello everyone!
I've been using DAZ Studio 3 Advanced for a long time and have decided to upgrade to Daz Studio 4.6 Pro. However, whenever I install DAZ Studio 4.6 my content libraries are completely empty, along with everything else. There isn't even a genesis figure, which I thought was supposed to be included. I have a DAZ Studio 3 folder, but when I try to go to File > Open and choose a file, DAZ Studio 4.6 says it can't locate the file. So basically, none of my files from Daz Studio 3 are working. The DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro installation creates a new folder called Studio4 when it installs. Am I supposed to copy all of my files from the DAZ Studio 3 folder to the Studio4 folder?
I must be doing something wrong, does anyone have any ideas?

Did you install the Genesis Starter Essentials AND Genesis 2 Starter Essentials bundles that come with DAZ Studio 4.6.? You have to install them separately, they don't install with the basic program.
To see your DS3 content, you MUST tell DS4.6 where it is, just the same as you had to do in DS3.
Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and add the path to your content for BOTH DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats. The same path should be entered for both, you do NOT add Runtime to the end of the Poser path.
Most DS3 content will then appear in the Content Library pane, but plugins and shaders etc., may need to be updated.
Edit: I think it's fixed now, I was looking in the poser directory instead of the DAZ one.
So I have a few more questions.
- Can I still have DAZ Studio 3 Advanced on the computer while have Daz Studio 4.6 Pro?
- Where can I find the Genesis install bundles?
- I can now load up figures in DAZ Studio 4.6, but now it can't locate any of the texture files for any objects. If I pointed to the DAZ Studio 3 folder, shouldn't it be able to detect the textures?
1 Yes you can still have DS 3 and 4.6, many of us do.
2 Genesis can be found in your account "Product Library" I gather you are not using DIM.
3 Did you set up the paths to your old DS3 content folders under Poser Formats in the Content Directory Manager?
I can't tell if my current path is to the DAZ Studio 3 folder. I click on the third option down (Documents/Daz 3D/Studio3) and then click accept, but I'm still getting the same error. Now I can't load either figures or textures. How do I see what my current path is?
Edit: I found out what the problem was. I selected the DAZ Studio 3 Folder, but not the "Content" folder, so it wasn't searching the content folder at all.
for DS3 content click on the folder called "content" when adding the path in the Directory Manager
Thank you, that did the trick!
cool, my pleasure
