Last version DS
Added a light in the scene directed to the character and normally I see the effect on the skin!
I try on/off with the "pixel" shader F2
I try to "reset to default"
My problem is,
Not all time, the lights don't react in the scene! (No problem in render)
- I am the only with that problem?
- How can I fix this?
Is a big pain to render and go back to scene to adjust lights!
Note:
Loading FIRST a character with ready lights and then load scene, lights respond!
Note: the problem is not continuous, sometime load old scene lights react normally
Creating new scene, added lights and problem occur!

Others may be able to answer this better than me. I normally see the effect of where the light is coming from by turning the lights on and off. But that doesn't help me much in most cases. The things I find useful are
1) For placing the lights, look through the light by selecting it in the View Display.
2) Enable progressive render...this will allow you to start a render and really see what your lights are doing in a very short time, so that you can stop the render and continue adjusting, if needed.
i think i found the problem
scene with point and linear lights are guilty!
when i load a saved scene with these type of light, i place other lights type (distant and spotlights, they are not view in the preview!
no problem with another scene is with same type of lights (distant / spotlights)
It also depends how many lights you have in a scene. There is no limit to how many lights you can have but the preview using OpenGL will only show a max of 8 lights including the viewport preview light. Some Graphics cards can allow 16 but a general rule of thumb is 8.
good to know
basicaly in scene i input always minimum of 4 distant lights (every 90°)
some scene i have 2 to 4 different lights (like candle or torch light on wall)
- first time i read about limit of 8 lights!
good to know about "limits", that help to know how to fix some scene
thank you
You can turn set which lights you want to show in the viewport window by changing the Render Priority setting in the Parameters Pane. So you can set the 7 you want to High and the rest to low etc.
If you want clarification of the limit open DS > Help > Troubleshooting > About Your Video Card > and it will show the limit under "Max Number of Lights" but bear in mind this is only referring to OpenGL and not the number of lights rendered. What limits the number of rendered lights is you system, RAM and CPU.
thank you for your "tips"
