I'm 43 Now, and Have Returned to DAZ Studio

I turned 43 on Saturday, and have returned to DAZ Studio.

I started out with DS in 2006. The last version I worked with was 3.1 Advanced, in 2010. I recently installed 4.6 to experiment with Genesis. After customizing the interface, I felt like I was home again. It has so many features that I have sorely missed. Perspective View, the ability to create and label my own cameras, and a Parameter Filter, just to name a few.

I switched to Poser four years ago because I wanted access to IDL, Gamma Correction, and Poser-exclusive content. The Reality plugin has made those factors irrelevant. With the next version of Reality around the corner, I celebrated my birthday by making DAZ Studio the primary part of my workflow again. And I marked the occasion with two new renders: Barefoot Dancer, and Dagger Dancer.

These are my results of the above-named tutorials that come with 4.6. I may be back on familiar ground, but there have been enough changes to the software that I thought it wise to take advantage of the built-in hand-holding to acquaint myself with the current version.

I tweaked the highest-quality render preset to create much larger images than what the tutorials call for because, as we all know, larger images show more detail.

Full-Size version of Dagger Dancer

My first, immediate challenge is going to be coming to grips with its content library. It's a lot more flexible than Poser's, but I'm determined to learn how it works, and embrace it.

This link should give you more tutorials, sorted by the free ones first (I hope):

    Yeah, welcome back man!

Love that second image; it looks like some girls'll kill you in the night or during a football game, just for a pair of pretty shoes! Or maybe her team lost, hmmmmm...

In any event, the moral to the story may just be "She knows where you sleep"

Welcome back. I turned 46 last June and have been in returning mode for some time. I too am awaiting the Reality plugin update. It does seem Paolo is slowly creeping into a DAZ "soon". :-)

Thank you all for the feedback and warm welcome. I appreciate it.

For the first time in years, I feel genuinely excited about creating art without dreading the prospect of fighting with Poser. I'm especially looking forward to working with Genesis and G2.

Thank you very much that. I had no idea there were so many tutorials available. I downloaded all of the Auto-Fit tuts, the free videos for the Great Art series, and bought copies of Parameter Tab Secrets, Posing 102, and Advanced Scene Making.

    I can't wait to start learning! :D
