Merchant resources and freelancing

Basically, a lion's share of merchant resources do not allow freebie-making. This is an effect of my summer research ;). So you must specify a price, right?

But I need to learn about the details. Is there a price minimum to set? What about freelancing? I mean, if I buy a kit from Thorne, let's say - Alpha series here at DAZ - can I alter them and sell on my own site as part of my character package? Not DAZ, not Rendo, not RDNA. What are your experiences? Another thing is the question on currency. Are dollars the only option? I am also considering alternative selling schemes such as Pay What You Want (with exclusion of zero price though). It is wildly popular in several top-notch online shops, but how would it be viewed in 3D?

    Unlike the basic license, and MR licensing is set up by the vendor so there's no one-size-fits-all answer - you would need to ask the creators for their rules.

    I would like to ask ForbiddenWhispers, Thorne, Zev0, ARTCollaborations, Giko, SimonWM, gypsyangel, Sarsa, Mint, Silencer, Bobbie25 and Nouschka Design when it comes to DAZ. If anybody reads this, please respond.

    First thing to do is read the read me for each of the individual products. Usually the read me has any specific requirements such as how much of percentage of the MR must be changed by the user to be considered their own product.

    If the read me is not clear or the user has other questions, then the user should contact the individual vendor for clarification.

    The alterations to an MR are made using human resource photos. 3d.sk is the probably the best known of the sites for human resource photos.

    I'm asking for minimum price range, I know how to alter the maps to be able to redistribute them.

    Rendo at one time had a minimum price of $5 for products. You could not go below that but you could go above it. I don't know if that still holds true as it has been some time since I left the Poser vendor market.

    AFAIK, once you purchase the MR and so long as you abide by the terms set, the decision of how much to charge for a finished product is up to individual vendor.

    Mari_e17's resources. I believe these were on Rendo, but I only get one result now when searching for her.

    Vaskania, you're a gem. I grabbed Ecstasy_7's packs, all by HoboBo, Kimber and Biscuit. I searched for BluEcho and realised she goes by two different names now: Helen at ShareCG (only a few sets there: http://www.sharecg.com/sahani) and SaHaNi. She's got her own site, but the links are dead.

    When it comes to Mari_e17, I found her at Rendo: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?search=mari_e17&expression=artist_name. But all the links are to her site, which is dead, so you can only watch and drool. I sent her a message through Rendo, let's hope she receives it and reups her things. Poconopixie is available here: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/index.php?user_id=475993. The links redirect to her ShareCG account, which works fine.

    Icprncss, thank you too. Then I suppose I could set a low price... But just in case, I will try to send PMs to those vendors asking for a clarification.

    If you honestly want answers, you need to actively go out of your way to ask. The DAZ PAs you mentioned can be found in the memebers list if you search for thier PA names. I highly doubt they will see this thread.

    The one I have was called Texture Elements from May 2009 and aren't on her ShareCG. It contained a few eyes, skin tiles similar to what Hobo does, eye parts (lacrimals, etc), and some scars. IIRC the scars are real scars from her husband's skin.

    I'll see about getting a hold of her and BluEcho regarding redistributing their packages. I think I saw somewhere BluEcho suffered a HD crash and lost a lot of it. What I have may have been lost to her, so I'll see what I can do.

    Just a heads up, I heard back from Blu and she's fine with me redistributing her MR. I'm working on promos now for it, and I've re-worked the PSDs a little to make them more cohesive and easier to understand. I'll post a link once it's up (I'm off to the store atm, most likely some time today though).
