It's Good to Be Home

Title: Dragon Slayer
Rendered: September 2014
Software: DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro
God I've missed DAZ.
Everything in this scene comes with DS. It also comes with a lighting preset and poses for Genesis and the Dragon, but that's it. Once you've loaded the content and presets, it's up to you to create the scene. This is how I set up my version, to put what I've learned so far about using DS 4.6 Pro, to work:
The lighting preset drew too much attention to the back wall, so I adjusted its position and increased its intensity to make the Dragon really pop.
The sword and right hand are custom poses. I also tweaked the left hand because Genesis's fingers bent backward when I loaded her combat pose.
Finally, I positioned the camera to make the Dragon look menacing while making Genesis appear small and heroic. I also adjusted the Dragon's pose to make its right foot look like its claws are about to step out of the render.
Two things I've especially missed about DS are the ability to choose from a preset list of render dimensions, and then have DS display the aspect frame for the selected dimension. Together, both features make framing scenes so much easier because they give you a clear guide for enhancing the visual impact of your renders when positioning your cameras. You can still customize the pixel resolution for your images, but DS will adhere to the preset dimension when rendering. It even works with Reality. For this render, I chose 16:9 Widescreen to give it a cinematic flare and showcase the Dragon's wingspan. Here's a behind-the-scene screenshot of what it looked like in the viewport.
I'm extremely happy with how this turned out.

Hey NF good to see ya here man. Looks like you're getting back into the swing of things rather nicely. One of these decades I'll get Reality. Finances kind of prevent that dream at the moment though haha. Keep up the good work man. Cheers
