Hello,
I'm a 2D artist. I make illustrations. I use Daz for posing refrence. Recently i bought some models. I was thinking if I can legally use renders of these models as a base of my illustrations? I make a paint over and a lot of photobashing that it's hard to say that I actually used a render as a base. But still I would like to know if it's ok. I read the general license and tbh it doesnt say much about this. If you have any information about this please let me know.
Cheers :)

Yes, you can do that - you can even use the renders without modification.
I plan to do this too.
The way I see it most people do post productuion in their renders anyway so it would be an absolute minfield for any company to try and dictate what that may or may not involve and to what extent the render is still recognisable as a 3D render.
There is even this cool product for helping artists to create a more hand drawn style in their work.

What I want to know though is if us 2D artists can post in artist part of the forum, would be nice to have a place to post where people don't go "ughh but 3D models arn't real art are they tho ughh" as if posing, colouring, composition, story telling are not valid parts of the process.
I kinda started using Daz with the same idea, but you need to have extreme discipline and willpower to use render as a reference then spend 5 hours drawing on top of it when you already have a perfect picture. and if you just use those renders directly you can make an entire picture story in the time when you barely finish drawing a single picture.
But if you really intend to do that I would rather recommend using CLIP STUDIO as it is more suited for this purpose of mixing 3d and 2d drawings
Also if you are going to do more of those pictures I would like to contact you and maybe we can do a project where we can train AI to convert 3d into drawings instantly
Thank you all for your help! :)
There is a lot you can still get out of Daz, especially if you want unique looking characters.
Consider rendering in 3D delight outline mode.
Here is a tutorial on how to do it https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=daz3d+rendering+outlines
Sorry if I'm being condesending and you already know this.
For my webcomic I think iray will always be good for things like promo art showing characters in a completly different style.
