changing Package Archive location?
Hello there,
I hope this message finds you well and safe.
I have a few questions about the location of the Package Archive. I noticed that my downloads are stored in that location:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads
The files are filling up my C:\ drive with over 100 GB of files (yes, I know, I have tons of models lol).
1- What happens to the current files in that Download folder if I change the location of the Package Archive to another drive on the computer for the new downloads?
2- If I move all the folders from the current Package Archive location to a new drive (same computer or an external hard drive), will this action affect all the installed assets (models, poses, etc) in "My DAZ 3D Library"?
3- What happens if I delete the files in C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\Downloads, will this affect all the installed assets (models, poses, etc)?
I hope these questions make sense. Please let me know if you need more clarification.
Thank you!
_Ken

Nothing, all you do with that setting is tell Install manager which folder to use - it has no effect on the contents. If you don't move thee xisting files from the original Package Archive to the new Install Manager will think they are not downloaded, though.
No, the zips are not used by the isntalled content.
No, again the zips have no active connection to the installed files.
Short answers: 1) nothing, 2) no, 3) no. However, there are caveats to each one on its own.
Best move is to do both 1 and 2. Change the location to another drive (external or internal, just beware of expected product quantities over time) and move the existing ones over to keep them all in the same place. Since you can have only one Package Archive at a time, using the new one will hide the existing products from DIM, and show them as "Ready for Download" again. Keeping them all together will ensure that doesn't happen, and updates to those products you already have will be clearly shown. Moving the zips after they have been installed will not affect the installed content.
Deleting the packages will not affect the installed content, either, but you will have to re-download if you need to re-install anything (it will show as Ready to Download only after you uninstall). You can keep the manifest files (.dsx) that come with the zips so that you retain the record of having downloaded a particular product, without actually keeping the zip. This is the same as checking the "Delete Package Once Installed" option at the bottom of the Ready to Install tab.
@Richard Haseltine and NorthOf45 - Thank you very much for your quick replies. Much appreciated it. Have a great weekend!
