So, why is this happening?

Poser Pro 2014 is the program
I'm not sure what's going on here.
So, bear with me here but this is an AU of a character so he kind of looks a little weird.
This has happened before but his facial hair keeps screwing up in close renders and it seems to be a recent development. It happened in an earlier image; thought it was a fluke, but it's happened again.
I cannot unfortunately post that first image.
I am using i13's light helper for this.
I have put the first image I did below
And then another, where the only difference was that his position changed. The light helper has not been touched...
So, uh..why?

Are you referring to why he's a lot less bright in the bottom shot?
I mean, his facial hair just looks really weird and patchy unlike the first picture. Which, I know, is a lot further away but it still doesn't look RIGHT. It doesn't look even and it seems like it's recent. I haven't had this much trouble in the past with this skin or light set.
The first picture looks a bit patchy as well imo, just harder to spot because it's further away. What texture is the beard from? I can see if I have it and can try it with another light set.
Also, I don't know if the mats use displacement, but do you have displacement on in your render settings?
If you are using a Sub Surface Skin shader without a good map that masks out the stubble in the Strength field it can override details like these.
What hair are you using?
If you open up the advanced tab of the material room, to which node is the bump/displacement/and or normal map attached?
Are you using IDL?
If you are using IDL, did you remove AO from the lights and all the materials?
Can you give a screen shot of your render settings?
The texture for the beard is just the skin it's on, which is this
http://www.daz3d.com/malachi-for-m4
and yes I do
and I always have but it seems to have suddenly popped up recently and I really haven't changed much in my render settings
It's Malachi from Daz.
I have SubSurface on in my render settings mainly because I forget to turn it off but it's been like that since I started rendering this character in general, who has always had this skin.
It's hair directly painted onto the skin
Idk what you mean by that either because it's...a skin it's kind of just..idk, bumped like a skin. But like I said this is recent and I have rendered him before without this problem. I mean I will show you an earlier pic I did with the exact same skin and render settings and the same light helper with the same light set.
The difference is it was rendered in PP12 not 14.
If I understand correctly the last render was done in Pro 2012.
Do you still have Pro 2012 loaded on your system? If you do, load the scene into Pro 2012, open up the advanced materials tab in the materials room and take a look at the face texture. If necessary, grab a screen shot of the materials room.
Close Pro 2012. Launch Pro 2014 and load the scene. Open up the materials room and take a look at the face texture. Make a screen grab if necessary. Compare the two. SMS made some changes to the materials room between Pro 2012 and Pro 2014. If this an issue created by the changes, you should see it when you pull up the screen grabs side by side.
It could also be a lighting issue. What happens if you load the scene, delete the light set up and load a light set that ships with Pro 2014? Do you get the same results?
