dForce doesn’t work (asking here as Tech Support doesn’t help)

I sent a support ticket 23 days ago, yet there has been ZERO answer. Nothing! What the hell, Daz? At this point I'm very much tempted to take a refund for ALL my purchases from the past month, if this is how you treat your customers.

In the absence of "Support" itself, hopefully someone here in the Forums can be of assistance.

Anyway.. so here's the gist of my issue:

Whenever I have readied a dForce item/clothing and hit the "simulate" button, nothing happens. Also, the usual sliders and options in the advanced section (gravity etc..) are no longer where they used to be. Or anywhere else, for that matter. Pressing the "simulate selected" tab causes the app to crash immediately.
Also, a number of my dForce hairs now won't attach to the selected figure, instead it'll just float in thin air. I have to manually set the figure's head as parent to make it work.

This all probably started around 5-6 weeks ago. Until then dForce behaved like normal. Since then I have tried "everything", including updates and installing the very latest Daz version.

What to do??
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

  • What to do?more data to evaluate root causes.

    • Check your log file, and post it here when you try to simulate something
    • What dforce products that you have are having issues (not all dforce cloth are 100% simulated)
    • Do you select your figure in first place and then you select your wardrobe?
    • PC Specs?
    • How much time is wasted when you hit the Simulate button?, nothing happens?, not even a windows saying something

in the manner you ask is the manner we will try to help you, rants like "Do i need to look an entire video to see a solution" just irritates me (not you, other user did that when I tried to help them)

    thanks

Thanks for answering. And no, I'm not about to rant - nor did I give you any impression I would do so.

Yes, I do understand that more info would be helpful. Unfortunately I am miles away from my office at this point, so I can't provide any such details now. Sorry about that.
My PC is fairly new, though. 32GB RAM, i5-something, 3,2ghz, 4 cores. I cant't remember.
However, the scenario described above goes for ANY dForce product in my library, old and new. I have tried numerous times, setting up the simplest scenes possible to do testing by trial and error: Like creating a new, empty scene, loading up a basic Genesis 8 female and 1 regular dForce hair from, say... Outoftouch. Or a simple dForce clothing. I head over and press "simulate", only *nothing* happens. No message, no dialogue box.
And again... all this used to work just fine with no issues.

Also, please keep in mind that all the usual sliders and simulation options are also now gone, like I mentioned above.

  • You might try Window>Workspace>Update and Merge Menus for the missing commands.

What is the OpenCL device selected in the Advanced tab of Simulation Settings? If you have more than one option available does changing it help?

    Had you verified this?

    Richard:
    Thanks for your suggestion!
I followed your instructions just now, but it unfortunately yielded no result. Restart didn't make any difference.

The Advanced tab is completely empty, as is Editor and "engine".

In this case, I loaded up the basic G8F and a hair, selected the hair and hit "simulate". Again, nothing. Then I gave the "simulate selected" another shot, which once again caused the app to crash immediately.

Holy moly... I think you may be on to something here. That plugin is not on my list!
Any idea how/where to find that plugin?

    Must be in this adress:
    C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4/plugins/dzdynamics.dll

  • The plug-in is part of the base application install - I would uninstall DS, then go to the application folder and make sure that there isn't a left-over, damaged copy of /plugins/dzdynamics.dll sitting there. if there is, remove it and try reinstalling DS (this should affect anything else, other than the Dynamic Clothing Control plug-in for Optitex clothing if you have the advanced version installed).

Thanks a lot, Richard and Zilvergrafix! Much appreciated. I have now initiated the sloooow process of a clean uninstall-install of my Daz setup. Hopefully it'll work out.

    Cheers!

    A quick update:

After uninstall-reinstall (I also deleted all my Daz content and folders), the dForce issue remains exactly the same. Only... Daz won't start at all unless I remove dzdynamics.dll file from the plugins folder. Once it's gone, the program starts and operates just fine, with the exception of anything related to simulation / dForce, precisely like I described in my original post.
The dForce plugin doesn't seem to be installed.

    In short:
With dzdynamics.dll in the plugins folder, Daz won't start (error pop-up "Daz Studio has encountered a fatal error, and must close").
With dzdynamics.dll removed, Daz starts just fine, but apparently with no dForce plugin installed.

    Any suggestions, please?

This would be the perfect time to tell us your specs (compute specs, type of video card, Nvidia version #, etc... ).   I would have prefered you didn't delete your DAZ content (it is separate from the program running as a program) but we have to figure out what is blocking your dforce specifically.

Sure thing! I have added the specs to my signature now, for easy reference. Please give me a word if any further info is needed.
    Thanks again!

maybe something related to the registry? but this require an opinion from a more experienced user or from the help center
