Well, having instaled Daz 1 week ago I still count as a newcomer to this app, so my problem may have somthing to do with that.

Eitherway, to cut this short, I downloaded a couple of third party figure packs from the internet and had them instaled in my (My Third party) directory that I'd added to Daz 3D. But evrytime I tried importing the figures into daz 3D they don't work. ( content libraty, select, and drag to the screen ) but they don't seem to work. ( nothing is wrong with the packs corruption wise. I've done the same process with genesis figure packs as well, they still don't work.) intresting enough this only happens to figures/models male or female, materials and objects work just fine.

here's a screenshot of the log files. it keeps saying: Invalid note selection for "preset shape" type

Erorr reading file, see log for more details.

oh I've also tried  to rearrenge content DB maintenance by processing the metadata queue and re-importing meta data, and I think it also doesn't seem to work either. cause if I'm correct  a page with checkmarks is supposed to show up every time you do this but for me it dosen't.

please helpsad...

  • Can someone help me figure this out please?

So I downloaded a couple of third party charecters/figures and obdjects from the internet.

made a new directory for them besides the main( my library ) folder. yet evrytime I tried to open figures it doesn't work. it dosn't imort the figure files so to speak. and so far only figures male or female seem to be affected by this. ( there also is not nothing wrong with the files themselves cause it does this for any pack from genesis to ordinary ones.) also there's nothing wrong with the perspective view either, it's set on smooth shaded. (at one point I ended up trying out all of the views but to no avail.)

checked out the log files and it says this: invalid note selection for "preset shape" type

Error reading file, see log for more details.

pleeeeeease can some one please help mesad?

  • When loading presets, such as shaping or materials, you need to have the thing they apply to loaded and selected.

okay i think i got somthing. i think it has somthing to do with the fotmat of the file itself. it's a duf file. do you know what can be done about it. for it to work

  • What is this? .duf is the Daz Studio native format, but it's used for all the different presets and scenes so knowing the format doesn't greatly help.

could you give me some suggestions as to how this situation can be helped? or some lead that would end up helping me figure the problem out. does this have something to do with pc I’m using or anything...

You are not providing enough info.  Where is your content installed?  What are the paths in Studio's Content Directory Manager?

If it's a free item you could just link it and, along with the details of your content directories, we can probably tell you exactly where to put things.

  • so as it turns out. I'm a big dum dum XD. so being that I wanted to install my stuff manually I never even knew that there was a specific essential packs I needed to download and have for the thing to work...so all I did was fussing up a storm for all to come help XDDDD... I did say I'm new to this so... ops.... so to make this conversation have some value of worth XD l wanted to know how morphs can be added to the body. like horns, wings slash wounds etc. cause so far what I've gathered is that you need to select the "piece" of the body you want the morph to be applied to but whenever I apply it loads but disappears and no indication of is shown on the right side of the screen where the adjustmentables are so to speak.

thank you for time as well by the waylaugh

Morphs reshape a model by moving the vertices that define the mesh to new locations.  Horns and wings are add-on much like clothing or hair.  While scars can be created with HD morphs they are more often added with texture maps through the models surfaces.

To apply morphs or horns or clothes or anything like that you want to select the whole character, then I personally find it best to double click whatever item I'm trying to add to them.  It's funny because otherwise I drag and drop everything else in DAZ pretty much.  Hope this helps.
