Weird Collision Stuff

Well here's one I haven't seen before...

D|S 4.15,  some rigged G3 clothing from the store many years ago. I applied like 3 collision iterations, and collide with the base figure of course, and in the Iray preview the clothing looks great, no poke thru's, no problem.

But the actual Iray render there are poke thru's.

I don't get it. Not sure where to even start looking.

Any ideas?

  • Is there displacement on the figure or the clothing?

Do you mean the Smoothing Modifier? It definitely has a Smoothing Modifier applied, and I *think* if you apply it to the clothing it also shows up on the figure? There's pretty much identical collision settings on both the figure and clothing.

  • No, I meant displacement in the surface settings - it moves the mesh in or out, and may not show in Iray preview mode.

Most figures come set up with one more level of displacement for the actual render than the preview.  I imagine it's to help speed things up when navigating the preview window, but it also occasionaly causes what you're describing.  Of course, you can change this.  If it's not what Richard is suggesting, and I've noticed that he is very knowledgeble, this could be the trouble.  Although, displacement does show in iray preview, just not the openGL.
