I know I can buy Victoria 8.1 here: https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-8-1 - But where is Genesis 8.1 Female to download or purchase?

If you go into your account, under product library, look up the word "Essentials" and you should see the Genesis 8 starter essentials listed on the left.  Click on that and on the right you will see a bunch of files you can download, just grab the one that is 300+ MB for both Genesis 8 Male and Female and you will have Genesis 8.1 for both of them.

if you use the DIM, just look up the word essentials again in the search and the files will show up.

  • thanks! By the way, DAZ people, the DazCentral looks very slick but OMG it is terrible usability - I cant choose an install directory, it just goes off into C drive and does it's thing. The installed content also simply loads into a default, without any way for me to manage it.

  • I really dislike both Daz Central and the Install  Manager. I also can't seem to find the Genesis 8.1 bases anywhere. I scipped 4.15 and went directly to 4.16. I'm not sure that has anything to do with it.

Genesis figures are not a part of Daz Studio, they're separate downloads.

You need to instal the latest version of Genesis 8 starter essentials to get the 8.1 bases. Also you'll need the latest version of DS default resources.

And? That's intentional. Anyone who'd want to do that would be using the DAZ Install Manager instead after all. DAZCentral is for people who think that's too complicated.

  • Daz Central does allow you to set a base path, however, so you are not bound to use C:.

  • I deleted Smart content and Daz central because it's not needed. All you need is the Content Library and manually install your content.

    Does AutoFit work correctly?

    Yes

  • Still no luck?

If the previous suggestions did not help you and your Genesis 8.1 figures are still not showing up in your library, try the following method:
You are probably like me and have good reasons to install Daz Studio into a directory other than the default given during the installation.
First, do what folks in the previous comments suggested - make sure that you have installed the Genesis 8 starter essentials. (If you have DIM installed, DO NOT follow the nonsense help guide from ( Daz https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360055211892-How-to-update-Update-your-Daz-Studio-Default-Resources-package-DIM-or-DazCentral-to-4-15- ) this would actually uninstall the starter pack if you already have it installed. If the Gen 8 starter essentials pack is in the "Installed" tab in your DIM, do NOT click on it and then on Start Que. Just move on to the next step.
Now open your Daz Studio. In your menu on the left (unless you have moved it somewhere else) you normally browse to your library to load up your figures etc. This time browse to Products, almost at the very bottom. Then right-click on "G" and choose "Refresh" to make sure all recently installed products will show up in that folder.
Browse to "Genesis 8 Basic Female", right-click it and click "Install". (If you don't have the "Install" option, I suggest re-installing the Genesis 8 starter essentials). Now you may be prompted to enter your email address you use to log into your Daz account and your password.
Now you are probably browsing to your library and full of hope checking out the People/Genesis 8 or Genesis 8.1 folders... and nothing has changed. Don't swear/laugh in frustration like I did. DO NOT CLOSE DAZ STUDIO. Notice a thin yellow line on the bottom right of your screen? (which may be very hard to notice if you have an ultra-wide monitor) and also, the small grey Genesis 8 starter essentials icon in the Products/G is slowly (extremely slowly) filling up with bright blue color. Good news - the Gen8 starter essentials pack is being reinstalled (for real this time). Depending on the speed of your computer, you may have a time for a coffee break, your favourite television show or a quick nap.
Once the installation is finished browse to your Library --> People/Genesis 8 Female or Male and enjoy your shiny new Genesis 8.1 figure.

    I hope this helped, cheers!
